Shoot Lower Golf Scores Quickly

The first thing you need to learn is how to putt. There are many grips and putting styles you can use. A good tip to keep in mind is to make sure your eyes are directly over the ball during your putting stance as this will help you to see the line better. A great way to learn a putting style is to simply pick your favorite golfer and copy their putting style. Remember that if they are on the PGA tour using that putting style then it obviously works so just pick one style you like and then stick with it.

Remember to spend most of your putting practice time hitting short putts inside of ten feet. Short putts are the foundation of a solid putting game and they can make a huge difference as far as lowering your golf scores. The next key aspect of golf are the short shots around the green like the bunker shots, chip and flop shots.

With bunker shots you want to open your stance which means your feet are aligned to the left of the target if you are a right handed player and then you need to pick a spot around 3 inches behind then ball and hit that spot using a cushion of sand to lift the ball out of the bunker. With chip shots you want to place the ball further back in your stance towards your right foot and use a downward blow to hit the ball. Also maintain a straight line between the left hand and the club shaft through impact.

When hitting flop shots you will need at least a 60 degree wedge and place the ball further up in your stance closer to your left foot. Also make sure the lie is ideal for a flop shot which means there should be a cushion beneath the ball that will allow you to easily slide the club under the ball so you can hit a high shot that has a lot of spin.

Learning how to hit wedge shots between 40 and 150 yards is the next key element of golf. These are your money shots and they can make a huge difference in your scores. The ball should be positioned towards the center of your stance. Developing touch with these shots is a function of consistent practice so make sure you put in the time necessary to learn these shots. Also try to avoid too much mechanical thoughts when hitting any golf shot, simply pick a target and make the swing. If you need to practice mechanics do it without hitting any balls because the result will usually not be very consistent.

Your mid irons are the next step in learning how to play this game. Most people simply swing far too hard when it comes to the full swing. You need to relax and let the club do the work. Look at how many thin players there are on the PGA tour, this is proof that you do not need to muscle the club in order to get great distance and accuracy. Always swing well within yourself and maintain good balance.

Games Tackle Disaster Training

The new approach is expected to save money -- but it can also prepare many professionals and volunteers quickly in the event of a health emergency, like the potential bird-flu pandemic.

"These games let people train on their own schedules," said Eric Holdeman, an expert in disaster relief and director of Washington state's King County Office of Emergency Management. "And it gets us away from death by PowerPoint in the typical classroom environment. It's also cost-effective."

The first game, which took three months to develop, trains health workers to respond to an anthrax outbreak. A massive flu pandemic simulation is in the works.

Players learn how to set up MASH sites, evaluate patients and dispense drugs. They also are trained to distribute medications to health-care sites and notify the public, instructing people on what to do -- without instilling panic.

The game also helps health workers and volunteers cross-train for more than one job. Crisis teams are typically understaffed. The scoring helps players determine what they are good at and what skills they need to sharpen.

A multiplayer prototype is being developed to train teams of health specialists to work together.

There are about 23 different roles for each crisis, and each scenario requires different training, explained Dr. Colleen Monahan, an epidemiologist and the simulations' lead programmer.

"Avian flu is a real challenge, because people will be really scared," she said. "Fifty percent of people who get avian flu die, regardless of age. Quarantines, keeping people away from each other, will be difficult. Our approach helps people train for multiple tasks and role-play with each other without the cost and on their own schedules."

Traditionally, health-care workers are trained by role-playing or watching videos. The simulations won't entirely replace conventional approaches, Monahan said, but they will shorten and focus the face-to-face training.

The game was originally developed for the Chicago Public Health Department, but the CDC and other agencies, embarrassed by the response to Hurricane Katrina and other recent disasters, are keen to adopt new tools that will help them be more prepared when the next crisis hits.

PlayFirst: Can Casual Gaming Get Serious?

Until now, the eco-system for casual downloadable games has been populated by small developers who distribute directly through the major portals like MSN's Game Zone, ShockWave, RealArcade, Yahoo, and AOL Games. In a bid to bring mainstream infrastructure to the genre that is so popular outside of the retail game core, PlayFirst (www.play-first.com) launched in early September as a publisher devoted exclusively to mass-market online casual gaming. These guys want to do for downloadables what the big mainstream game publishers have done at retail, cultivate enduring properties, support development, and leverage marketing efficiencies across multiple titles.

PlayFirst is coming into the market with serious cash and serious people: $5 million in first-round funding from Mayfield and Trinity Ventures, CEO John Welch and CTO Brad Edelstein, both Macromedia/ Shock-wave veterans, and Rubinstein, formerly of UbiSoft.

The casual game market suffers from a general absence of game brands, PlayFirst insists. While PopCap's Bejeweled and the classic Tetris are widely known, there are no properties that spawn user loyalty across sequels and new iterations, a model that is the lifeblood of mainstream retail games publishing. Again, Rubinstein argues, this is where a traditional publisher can help reform the space. "We do believe there are some genres that can be tapped where we can create franchises that last.

"
On the marketing side, casual games remain just as haphazard as the development end, in that most developers need to depend on publicity generated by the distribution portals. "The distributors don't do much marketing except on-site," says Rubinstein. "They have a formula, but there is a lot more to do there."

With its CTO, Edelstein having worked on Flash/Shockwave Players, PlayFirst will also provide tool sets that will help developers publish across a wider range of platforms, because the company thinks that the casual market is not welded to the Internet. "We have our eye on everything," says Rubinstein. "People are trying to figure out how to play games on everything." The upcoming handhelds, phone handsets, and even TV set top boxes are ripe for what PlayFirst sees as a library of platform agnostic titles. "Our secret sauce technology will come in handy. We are thinking about both internal and external games being built to be taken into other platforms so we don't have to do a 100% redo. That's the way a publisher thinks," he says.

There is also a lot of room for innovation in casual games distribution, which now rely wholly on four or five major game portals. PlayFirst will leverage its executives' existing relationships with all of these usual suspects, but Rubinstein believes as retailers become more involved with online e-tailing, the casual games model will find a place on vendor portals. Likewise, the broadband ISPs continue to hunger for casual games, and as gateway sites like Comcast.net become more content-rich, PlayFirst hopes to place games there as well.

How to Win at Multiplayer First Shooter Games

The way most first player shooters score kills is simple to understand the harder it is to make the kill the more points you get. This means that if you kill someone with a knife you will get more points then someone using a chain gun, but running around with just your knife out is a big gamble unless you are extremely skilled at the game. This method of play will usually just make you the biggest loser.

One way to get a good score is to take a long range weapon like a sniper rifle and camp out near the enemy camps spawn point. By doing this every time someone on the opposing team gets killed they will instantly revert back to the spawn point and you can shoot them, then they will disappear and then reappear and you can shoot them again.

You get fewer points like this, but it is the same principal as playing roulette in the casinos, it is easier to get many smaller wins, rather then one big win.

Many times I would jump into the pilots chair and other players would jump in and I would circle the enemy camp but the players in the back of my chopper would not attack instead they would jump out or just wait for me to land instead of helping me attack from the air. So instead of increasing our chances of winning by working together they just wanted to be a team of 1. This will decrease the chances of our team winning the game, just like a player at a blackjack table can make all the other players lose by making bad decisions when it is that players turn.
Formulating a good strategy, playing as a team and using all available tools at your disposal you can not only win more games and get more points, you will also have a better online gaming experience, and this applies to playing first person shooter games and gambling in online casinos.

Falling Pieces

PopCap’s habit of appending “Deluxe” to all its new games befuddles me. If this is the first iteration of something, isn’t it—by definition—the baseline? Shouldn’t only subsequent, expanded versions of a game get the “Deluxe” moniker? But my befuddlement’s passed, thanks to PopCap’s latest game, Peggle Deluxe. It’s all so clear to me now: “Deluxe” doesn’t refer to the game, but to its life-consuming potential. With that in mind, Peggle Deluxe might be better titled Peggle Deluxe Extreme Super Dynamite. Download this front-runner for Casual Game of the Year at your own peril.

At first glance, Peggle doesn’t look too promising; it’s a strange hybrid of pachinko and PopCap’s own Zuma, with the cutesiness of Bonnie’s Bookstore. Seriously. Your job in Peggle is to shoot a little ball into a field of pegs, with every peg the ball strikes being cleared from the field once your ball’s done ricocheting. Every field has about 20 orange pegs that you must eliminate before you run out of balls. It’s just that simple.

What’s not so simple: how insanely hypnotic and addictive Peggle is. Two levels into the Adventure mode, you’ll be irrevocably hooked and trying to recall all that high school geometry you thought you’d never need, just so you can line up a perfect shot. As the peg fields grow more challenging, the game compensates by giving you increasingly effective power-ups like multiballs, fireballs, or a Zen ball that plans your shot for you.

Hostory of Hockey

The history of hockey is similar to that of golf as it basically is rooted from any game that involved a stick and a ball or rock which have all been played for thousands of years. Very rough and crude forms of these games have been taking place for thousands of years throughout Europe, Egypt and South America that have formed hockey history.

Hockey began to form clearer roots throughout England in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds. These were treacherous games that often combined the entire village versus another village and teams could often have up to a hundred players and the players often played through major injuries and endured several days of these games.

The sport that we are more familiar with today began to form at Eton University in England when they actually began to formulate rules around 1860. Then the first Hockey Assoc. in the history of hockey was formed in 1875 which clarified more rules.

Further growth of the sport was spawning in North America as new settlers came to the continent. Montreal was credited with the first organized game in the history of hockey that was played in 1875 by college students. The students then formed more associations and leagues and created new rules at the same time.

The game continued to grow in popularity and became so popular that Montreal offered the first World Championship of Ice Hockey in 1883. European hockey continued to grow at the college level while a number of universities formed fierce rivalries.

Some dramatic rule changes were applied that helped progress the game to a field of eleven players while hockey equipment began to evolve as well. The use of safety equipment to include pads, helmets, mouth pieces and protective eye shields have dramatically improved from the early days of hockey history. It was not uncommon to not even wear head gear until the last few decades.

The international appeal of hockey grew tremendously due to the Olympic Games. It was first played at the Games in 1924 and only allowed male teams. Canada was a safe bet to win the gold medal as they won the first six out of seven golds. From the mid fifties to the eighties the Soviet Union dominated. Although the US won its first gold medal in hockey history in1960 it was the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” where our college amateur team went on to beat the heavily favored Russians that spurred a growth in Americas appetite for hockey.

The NHL as we know it today was formed in 1917 and consists of 30 teams 24 of which are from America and the remainder in Canada. The bulk of the players come from Canada, Europe and America. There is also an International Association called the International Hockey Federation which was formed in 1908 and continues today by hosting some of the largest international ice hockey tournaments. These two organizations have helped to form and govern hockey as we know it today. The sport has grown a lot from twigs and balls to a major international activity that produces billions in revenue each year and has some of the most amazing athletes on the planet, so goes the history of hockey.
